Introduction

Jackpot City is a legal and regulated casino that has been up and running in Ontario since 2022. While the software is on the simplistic side, the menu of games is among the best of any casino I’ve played at in Canada.

I’m covering all of that and much more in my full Jackpot City review.

Facts You Should Know About Jackpot City

I had a lot of fun playing at Jackpot City. Check out some of my highlights from the site below:

  • New unique benefits unlocked every day

  • 69 active live dealer tables

  • Just 24 hour processing time for withdrawals

Advantages
  • Extensive game variety
  • Daily unique benefits
  • Fast withdrawals
Disadvantages
  • Dated site design
  • High withdrawal minimum
  • Limited customer support

How Does This Casino Stand Out From Competitors?

During my Jackpot City review, I was pleasantly surprised to find  some unique features that really made my experience on the site feel personalized. The Ontario casino industry has been flooded with new sites since 2022, meaning it’s important for sites like Jackpot City to bring something fresh and unique to the table.

In this section, I want to discuss how Jackpot City compares with some other of my favorite ON sites: Casumo and Leo Vegas.

Royal Vegas and Jackpot City are sister sites, both owned by Cadtree Limited. You could probably guess that just by looking at them too: the design of the software is a mirror image on each site and the gaming menu is pretty much the same. However, the sites aren’t exactly the same.

Starting with Casumo, Jackpot City has the edge in terms of gaming variety. Both casinos feature tons of slots, table games, and live tables, but Jackpot City goes the extra mile with both a Bingo section and an Arcade section.

My Experience with Jackpot City

Jackpot City was very easy to use, from start to finish. The design of the site is pretty simplified, and in my opinion is best suited to beginners and more casual players. If you’re looking for the most cutting edge sites in terms of design, Jackpot City might not be for you. Instead, the focus is on simple navigation via the menu at the top of the screen, and the games themselves - which take up the most real estate on the screen.

Step by Step Guide to Getting Started

Getting my account set up was fairly simple, but did take a little time. I started off by clicking the yellow Sign Up button when I opened the site. First up, I had to confirm my location in Ontario.

Next, I had to type in all the details of my account information, including the following:

  • Username

  • Password

  • Email address

  • Cell phone number

  • Currency

  • Language (English, French or Chinese)

  • Name

  • Date of Birth

As is legally required with Ontario casinos, I also had to provide my employment information and my home address. This needs to be verified before your account is fully up and running.

Finally, I had to check a few boxes before I finished, confirming my age and that I accept the terms and conditions of the site. If you run into any trouble during the registration process, there is a support button always available beside the form - which I thought was a nice touch. Like I said, there is a fair amount of info required when you first sign up, so I recommend having all of the above ready in advance.

Mobile vs Desktop Experience

I also downloaded the Jackpot City app on my iPhone 13 to check out how it worked, and again I was impressed. The app pretty much follows the same patterns as the website: the design is relatively basic but it makes it nice and easy to navigate, make deposits and withdrawals and play games. The games in particular looked great on the smaller screen, and loaded perfectly every time.

The app has a new category in the menu called Mobile Casino, which explains how the technology works on your phone. Other than that, I found the mobile experience pretty similar to desktop. You can find the Jackpot City app on both the Google Play Store and the App Store.

Casino reviews - Unique Features and Facts

In the crowded world of Canadian online casinos, I’m always on the lookout for novelties and sites that do things differently. I’m happy to report that Jackpot City comes through in this regard in a number of ways, mostly involving perks.

I also really liked that there were guaranteed new benefits every single day. You can click the benefits section in the menu to see the calendar for the upcoming week.

Finally, I have to shout out the live dealer tables here, with an incredible 69 different tables running during my review. To lift the curtain a little here, as reviewers we are encouraged to spend an equal amount of time on the different sections of the gaming menu. This time round, I totally failed: instead, I spent the vast majority of the time exploring the different live games and soaking up the atmosphere. I loved it.

Games on Jackpot City

Game Quality and Variety

I was extremely impressed with the variety of games at Jackpot City. I understand why some sites decide to specialize in just one or two types of games - like Casumo and their huge selection of slots for instance - but my favorite type of casino is one that embraces diversity, so you could play a different type of game every single day. That’s Jackpot City.

Game Variety and Layout

The menu is split up into six categories: Slots, Tables, Live Casino, Arcade, Bingo and Jackpots. When you click on one, you might find some sub-categories too. The table games are divided into different sections for roulette, blackjack and others, while you can easily switch between progressive jackpots and Must Wins in the Jackpots section. The gaming menu is powered by Microgaming.

In fact, Jackpot City has lots of little design touches that really improve the overall user experience. There’s a search bar that lets you type in the name of specific titles, or just explore certain themes. You can click a little heart icon on any game to add it to your Favorites, which are saved in a section all on their own. I found it exceptionally simple both to browse through the different games and hone in on exactly what I was looking for.

One minor hiccup was that the search bar tended to suggest things that felt a little far away from what I was actually looking for. I typed in “craps” to check out if there was a craps table, but was instead offered Big Bass Crash. It’s not a huge deal, but I think the intelligence of the search engine could be improved.

Slot Machine Selection

I counted more than 800 slots during my Jackpot City review. There were plenty of top Microgaming titles I was already familiar with from other sites, including Kings of Cash and Reel Gems. I also enjoyed the prevalence of games that tie in with popular entertainment franchises like Jurassic World: Raptor Riches and Lara Croft: Tower of the Sun.

I found that the games consistently performed really well for me, both on Mac laptop and iPhone 14. The graphics were crisp, there was no lag or loading time, and they sounded great too

Table Games

The selection of virtual table games is excellent in some areas, but could use work in others. If you’re a roulette fan you are absolutely going to have the time of your life at Jackpot City. There are dozens of roulette tables, including versions with fun twists and side games, well as themes like soccer or even Terminator 2! Ditto for Blackjack, as well as a small selection of video poker games.

However, I would like to see the likes of keno, craps and some more poker games added. I also didn’t like that all the live dealer tables were included in the Tables section as well as the Live Casino section. If you’re going to have two separate categories, it makes more sense to keep them separate, in my opinion.

Live Dealer

The live section is a real highlight of Jackpot City. There are 69 different live tables in total - although it’s true that a decent number of them are different blackjack tables.

I’m a sucker for live games of all types. I love the hyper-realistic tables that go the extra mile to make you feel like you’re really in a casino, and Jackpot City has a great selection of the classics: blackjack, roulette, Casino Hold’em, Sic Bo and more. I found the software on these games to be top notch. The acid test for me is when I feel like the live tables conjure the same emotions in me that I get from a brick-and-mortar casino - and this was definitely the case here. The friendly professionalism of the dealers, the sound of chips and cards, the pace of the games: it all worked really well.

However, I also love the more innovative game show style games that have grown in popularity over the years, and Jackpot City comes through here too. I enjoyed playing games like Mega Wheel, Boom City and Travel Fever. I’ve played them before on other sites so I know what to expect, and the experience at Jackpot City definitely lived up to my expectations. Again, the video was crisp and the host was excellent at keeping the energy high.

Payment Methods

Having secure and efficient payment methods on hand is a key ingredient in the overall user experience at online casinos, and Jackpot City excels here. In total, there are seven options available to deposit, each one bringing something else to the table:

  • Interac e-Transfer: If you’ve got a Canadian bank account, this is the easiest way to make quick and easy deposits and withdrawals, directly from your bank to the casino.

  • Bank Cards (Visa / Mastercard): Debit and credit cards at Jackpot City work exactly the same as using them for any other online payment.

  • Paysafecard: A prepaid bank card that provides an extra layer of security between your personal bank account and your casino account.

  • MuchBetter: An e-wallet service that also acts as a middleman between your bank and your casino. However, you will need to create an account with MuchBetter and top it up separately.

  • Flexepin: A cash voucher that is not linked to your personal finances at all, providing high levels of security and discretion.

  • Google Pay: Allows you to make quick and easy payments using their Android devices. You can also verify payments using your biometric data, like scanning your face using your phone.

Jackpot City doesn’t charge any fees for either deposits or withdrawals, which I appreciate. That said, depending on your chosen method of payment you might encounter fees, like with Flexepin for instance.

The minimum deposit is $10, but the minimum withdrawal is $50. It’s not a huge deal, but $50 feels a bit steep for all those micro stakes players out there. I’d like to see this lowered.

Personal Experience

I decided to use a bank card to top up my account for the first time, which is my go-to method. To do so, I clicked the Bank button in the menu at the top of the screen. As part of my welcome bonus (more on this below), I qualified for a 100% boost on my first deposit. A pop up informed me of this and I opted-in before I continued the process.

Next, I had to declare that I was the owner of the account I was using for the transaction. This is standard legal procedure at Ontario casinos. I chose to start off with $50 and clicked the Next button. Next, I just had to type in my card details including my CVC number. My name and billing address was auto-filled with the info I provided when I signed up. Finally, I clicked the purple Deposit button and I was good to go. The money hit my account instantly.

I also tested out the withdrawal process. This time, I went for an Interac transfer. Again, I had to confirm the account was in my name but, this time, I was redirected to a totally new page via Interac. I had to select my bank from the list (CIBC in my case) and then sign in using my online banking details. Finally, I confirmed the transfer.

I didn’t realize initially, but Jackpot City imposes a 24 hour pending period on all withdrawal requests. It’s not ideal, but it’s not the end of the world. I withdrew $60 which hit my account within two days of my request being made. The minimum for all withdrawals is $50.

Jackpot City Walkthrough

During the week I spent testing Jackpot City, the first thing that greeted me when I opened the site was a pop up letting me know what that day’s benefit was - which is always a nice way to kick off your session!

The layout of the software is pretty simple. The home screen dropped me right into the gaming menu, starting out on the For You section. The gaming menu is well organized, and I found it very simple to cycle through the different categories exploring all my options. The organization is especially impressive, when you consider there are almost 1,000 games on the menu.

Doing a little exploring, I realized the main way to navigate was via the banner menu at the top of the screen. This is where you can check our notifications, the latest perks and make a deposit or withdrawal.

I found a couple of useful tricks too, which made my experience feel more personalized. There is a button right at the top of the screen that lets you save a link to Jackpot City on your homepage - almost like an app. This stayed in place for my week of testing, and I found it super handy. When I clicked my name, I found a somewhat hidden button that let me toggle between Light/Dark themes. I started out on Dark by default, but I found that when I was playing after dark I preferred the brilliance of Light mode.

I Tested Jackpot City on My Phone: Mostly Smooth Sailing

The Jackpot City app is available for both iOS and Android devices, from the App Store and Google Play Store. I downloaded it on my iPhone 14 to see how the experience compared to the desktop.

The main way to navigate around the app is via the drop down menu on the top left corner, which mimics the main banner menu on the desktop site, plus the game categories. I found it pretty smooth to navigate in general, and I like the way the menu simply hides when you don’t need it. One thing I didn’t like was the fact that the Help Section button makes you leave the app all together, and opens a new tab on your browser.

Making deposits and withdrawals seemed nice and smooth. I particularly recommend using the app for Android users (unlike me), since it supports easy payments via Google Pay.

For sure my favorite part of using the app was the games themselves, which looked great on the smaller screen. I was really happy with how fast they were, and I liked having the ability to flip my phone from portrait to landscape mode as I wanted.

Why Did I Give Jackpot City a Top Rating?

For every site we review, our writers go through the same process. We actually sit down behind our computers, sign up and start playing, make deposits and withdrawals, contact customer support and more. Here are some of the factors we consider in every single review:

  • Security and Fairness: we only endorse sites that are licensed by the Ontario Gaming Commission and fulfill all their legal requirements, from verifying the identity of their players to confirming players are Fit to Play every time they login. We also check out other reviews and platforms like TrustPilot, to get a sense of the experience of other users. If we think something isn’t legit, we don’t recommend it.

  • Game Selection: we spend hours combing through the entire selection of games, getting a feel for the variety, graphics, loading times, interesting features and more. We like casinos that provide a deep variety of games, from slots and tables to live dealer games. Extra points for unique and exclusive titles.

  • Payout Speed: we go through the process of depositing and withdrawing, from start to finish. To receive a good score here, we look for things like the variety of payment methods, any fees involved, and fast processing times.

  • Customer Support: we contact customer support in a variety of ways, including via live chat, email and phone if possible. We compare the effectiveness of the support available at different casinos, and we check out the help or FAQ section too.

  • Overall Feeling: this one is a little intangible, but we love casinos that feel unique and idiosyncratic, or bring something genuinely new to the table. We spend time exploring every aspect of the site, to really get under its skin and understand how it feels to use.

Licensing and Regulation at Jackpot City

Jackpot City is owned by Cadtree Ltd, a company located in Alderney in the British isles, which itself has received a license from Ontario Gaming Commission. The license number is OPIG1236392. Cadtree owns other Canadian casinos too, including Royal Vegas.

Playing at a legal and regulated casino is a gamechanger in terms of player protection. It means that Jackpot City won’t just disappear with your money, which could easily be the case at unregulated offshore sites. It also means that Jackpot City is required by law to provide responsible gambling tools, and to care about the welfare of its players.

You can check out the Ontario Gaming Commission website for more information about player safety.

Did I Have Any Problems When Using Jackpot City

My experience using Jackpot City was largely very positive. In terms of the software design and user experience, I would definitely say that this site is better suited to more casual players or beginners than anyone looking for an especially modern or innovative platform. It feels a little cookie cutter, especially when you play on some of its sister sites like Royal Vegas.

Finally, I think the customer support could definitely be improved. While the Help Center is good, it’s extremely difficult to find live chat support. You need to click through lots of different screens of suggested questions, and even then there may not be an agent online.

Do I Recommend using Jackpot City

Overall, I’m happy to recommend trying Jackpot City for yourself. For me, the positives certainly outweigh the couple of negatives I encountered, which include the perks wagering requirements, the $50 withdrawal minimum, and the somewhat dated design of the site.

In terms of positives, I have nothing but praise for the gaming menu. I love the variety and every single game I played looked great on both desktop and mobile. The presence of almost 70 live dealer tables is extremely impressive, and I love having more eclectic gaming options like bingo and arcade games thrown into the mix. With almost 1,000 games on the menu in total, it’s two thumbs up for me.

I found the banking process extremely smooth, for both deposits and withdrawals. The 24 pending period on withdrawals is very competitive, and the range of payment methods should cover pretty much everyone.

FAQ

Why did I choose Jackpot City over other casinos?

I chose Jackpot City because it stands out for its extensive and diverse selection of games, coupled with a random bonus every four hours.

What surprises did I find as a new player at Jackpot City?

As a new player, I was pleasantly surprised by the Bonus Wheel. While many casinos perks daily benefits, the fact that Jackpot City refreshes its Bonus Wheel every four hours was a real highlight for me.

Is there a secret to unlocking more frequent bonuses at Jackpot City?

Yes, my main tip is to keep track of the time you last spun the Bonus Wheel and try to log back in four hours after that to maximize your spins and potential benefits.

How quick are withdrawals at Jackpot City?

Jackpot City imposes a 24 pending period on all withdrawals requests, which are then processed according to your chosen method. I found my Interac transfer took less than two days in total to hit my account.

What must-try games did I enjoy as a first-time visitor at Jackpot City?

It has to be the live dealer tables. I was so impressed with the variety on benefits, from tons of blackjack and roulette tables to video poker, sic bo and lots of game shows.

How accessible was customer service at Jackpot City?

The customer service could be improved. Although there is live chat support available, I found it very difficult to locate and it wasn’t 24 hours. I’d love to see a dedicated 24/7 live chat button on-screen at all times.
